Wendy and Lucy

The inspiration: Filmmaker Kelly Reichardt (Old Joy) directs actress–and almost-Portlander–Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain, Dawson’s Creek) in this indie movie about a young woman and her dog, filmed in Portland. Wendy and Lucy costume designer Amanda Needham took textures from the quietly fierce film and applied them to this season’s looks. Nothing says fall fashion like wool.
Release date: Dec. 10.

The fashion: On Cora: “Oregon” empire-waist dress, $410; “Maine” double-breasted trench coat with storm flap, $800; both Church and State (lovechurchandstate.com) at Frances May, 1013 SW Washington St., 227-3402, francesmay.net.
